[collection] Fate/Zero 10th anniversary: the commemorative Kiritsugu and Kirei illustration I own in duplicate
Bought in duplicate on impulse and never opened since, this Fate/Zero 10th anniversary illustration immediately won me over through its face-off between Kiritsugu and Kirei.
Sommaire
A visual that spoke to me immediately
At this point, I know one thing for sure: I fell for this visual. This illustration, released during the Fate/Zero anime 10th anniversary campaign, immediately caught my eye, largely because of the characters and their charisma.
This duo alone concentrates much of what makes Fate/Zero so striking: a cold ideological tension, restrained violence, and a confrontation that goes far beyond a simple clash between characters.
Fate/Zero is probably still the Fate anime and storyline I prefer most, both for its animation and for its writing.
An illustration conceived ten years after the broadcast
This illustration was created by Tomonori Sudō, the series’ character designer. The theme chosen for the image felt especially fitting: “the image one would want to draw ten years after the broadcast.”
That is probably what gives this visual its slightly different tone. This is not just a standard commemorative product. It feels like a way of returning to Fate/Zero with ten years of hindsight, as if the work were not simply being celebrated, but reread.

Why this piece matters to me in a collection
That is also what I like about this piece.
It remains restrained. It does not need to overdo anything. It is built on a simple, effective, almost severe composition that fits the spirit of Fate/Zero extremely well.
This is exactly the kind of object I like to document here: not only because it is tied to a powerful work, but because it condenses into a single image part of what that work continues to represent over time.
I therefore own two copies of this piece, both still unopened.
For now, I simply wanted to dedicate an archive entry to it and note its presence in my collection. And if there is interest, I may return to it in more detail on Patreon, with a dedicated video about the object itself, its presentation, and this anniversary campaign.
