CLAYMORE – Clare – Signed Original Illustration Reproduction (Jump SQ – Volume 22 Contest)
I have only come across this piece twice in my life as a collector. The first time was through a Japanese blog that showcased a single copy.
The second was on Amazon Japan, around 2020, when I began seriously cataloging Claymore items.
Two appearances. Two flashes.
And then, nothing.
Sommaire
Context & discovery
It was in 2020 that I discovered this very particular reproduction (複製原画).
Unlike other Claymore reproductions, this one is hand-signed and individually numbered by Norihiro Yagi.
Tracing its origin, I learned that it was a prize from a contest held alongside the release of volume 22: a lottery reserved for a handful of Jump Square readers. In other words, extremely few copies exist (50, according to my research) and they almost never surface on the secondary market.

Why this reproduction matters
A Norihiro Yagi autograph is already exceedingly rare. But an official reproduction (複製原画), framed, hand-signed, and numbered?
That places this piece in a category of its own. Somewhere between an artbook plate, a high-end collectible, and a personal trace left by the author himself.
In a universe where derivative products can be counted on one hand, this piece is an invaluable relic.
It embodies not only Claymore, but also the almost confidential nature of collecting within this universe.
My attempts / frustrations
Unlike other pieces I have lost at auction, this one never truly gave me a chance.
I saw it.
I imagined owning it.
But it was never available: sold out on Amazon, sold out on Mercari.
A collector’s item that slipped through my fingers before I could even bid.
And that is probably what makes it all the more obsessive.

Why I keep searching
Because this is likely the absolute summit of Claymore collectibles.
I have seen rare items pass by.
Reproductions that were once available for order.
But a piece signed by Yagi himself, numbered, official, and limited to only 50 copies.
That is another dimension entirely.
