Among all the anime figures I’ve hunted down over the years, Clare by MegaHouse remains one of the most memorable.

A cult piece, one that eluded my collection for a long time before finally finding its place.
Context & discovery
I spotted it when it was first released… but it took time before I could actually get my hands on it.
Back then, I was systematically reviewing the (very limited) number of Claymore figures that existed.
And then came the revelation: the Clare 1/8 “Excellent Model” figure by MegaHouse.
The finish, the ready-to-draw pose, and the brand’s reputation checked every box for a patient, but stubborn, collector like me.
Originally released in late November 2007, followed by a reissue in 2009.
I’ll come back to that in more detail later.
Why this figure is special
It’s easy to forget that, at the time, high-quality anime figures weren’t as common as they are today.
This one spoke to me instantly: the silver armor, the calm before the storm, the gaze. Everything captures the essence of Clare, a character I particularly appreciate.
MegaHouse already knew how to create figures that hold a pose without betraying the character’s core identity. This piece strikes a perfect balance between restraint and intensity, fully aligned with the anime and the series’ tone.
My attempts / frustrations
As you know, rarity and competition come with their share of frustration.
Appearances were few and far between, often beyond my budget and I even made the classic mistake of unknowingly buying a bootleg on YJP. Shame on me… Shame on me …
I lost auctions, let good opportunities slip by… but when I really want something, I eventually find it. And own it.
Sometimes at the cost of months of monitoring, comparisons, and patience.
